Maroon mountain is located on Kalum lake road. The turn off is 1.3 kilometres from the maroon creek bridge, the road is fairly good and a 4x2 vehicle can make it most of the way. This pack trail takes you through old forest , until you come to a junction. The right trail takes you along the ridge to the peak . The left takes you to several small lakes, farther down the trail there is a small cabin. Along this trail you cross barren rock and follow stone cairns. The view is hard to describe, wesach mountain is north of you and it is spectacular. As you walk towards the peak you encounter a lake, there is evidence of mining. We were lucky to see a marmot up there and plenty of goat tracks.Unfortunately we did not see any goats.
